4 March Veterans Stand Down Court Event Set for March 30th March 4, 2019 By News Archive Veterans, Stand Down Court, VA 0 This community event provides supplies and services to homeless Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and VA Social Security benefits counseling. Veterans can also receive referrals to other assistance such as health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment and mental health counseling. This is a collaborative event, coordinated between local VA Medical Centers, other government agencies and community-based homeless service providers. Veterans who are being held back by longstanding court costs, fines, and even some minor warrants related to a municipal ordinance or inactive criminal cases in Pinellas County, are encouraged to attend the event and have their cases reviewed to see if those old fines and costs can be waived. Transfer of Pending Appeals from the Circuit Court to the District Court of Appeal Effective January 1, 2021, Appeals of county court decisions pending before circuit courts and subject to the jurisdiction change will be transferred automatically to the appropriate district court of appeal. Beginning January 1, 2021, parties appealing certain county court decisions will have their appeal heard in the district courts (pursuant to ch. 2020-61, Laws of Fla.). Pinellas Clerk Reappointed to Supreme Court Standing Committee on Fairness and Diversity Ken Burke, Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, has been once again reappointed to the Florida Supreme Court Standing Committee on Fairness and Diversity. Since his initial appointment to the Standing Committee in 2012, Clerk Burke has been reappointed every two years when the term expires. Implementation of New Docket Numbering for Certain Case Events Beginning August 27, 2017, the Pinellas County Clerk's office will be implementing a technical standard required by the Florida Supreme Court Standards for Electronic Access to the Courts. This standard requires sequential numbering of certain case events that are applied to a case docket.
