Pinellas Clerk's Office Announces the First Annual Cosplay Wedding Ceremonies

Get ready to say "I do" where fandom and romance collide! The Pinellas Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller proudly offers the first annual Cosplay Wedding Ceremonies to give fans of sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and superheroes the chance to celebrate their love in style! Couples can plan their special moment during the week leading up to the Tampa Bay Comic-Con, July 28 to August 1, 2025 at the downtown Clearwater Courthouse located at 315 Court Street, Room 150, Clearwater, Florida 33756. No appointments are necessary.

Couples are invited to dress in cosplay and bring up to 10 guests for an epic experience in our themed wedding ceremony room decorated in association with Emerald City Comics. Participants are required to be identified, so no heavy makeup will be permitted before verification. Face masks are allowed if they can be removed for identification purposes. Walk-ins are welcome!

"We look forward to providing this distinctive, one-of-akind opportunity," says Ken Burke, Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. The Clerk's office also offers photographs for $10.00, a commemorative themed wedding certificate for $5.00, and a free Cosplay Wedding Trading Card! Couples who prefer a non-themed wedding are welcome to utilize the traditional wedding ceremony room available year-round.

Please note that a valid marriage license is always required prior to a ceremony. Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the date of issuance; therefore, the ceremony must take place between the effective date and the expiration date listed on the license for it to be valid. For more information about obtaining a marriage license and completing the marriage application prior to visiting the Clerk's Office in person, please visit www.mypinellasclerk.gov/Home/Recording-Services. Recording Services is also available to answer questions at (727) 464-3008.

The Clerk's office looks forward to providing the next themed wedding opportunity, the Fourth Annual Halloween "Scaramonies," in October 2025.
