4 December Domestic Violence Survivors Receive Much Needed Help from Pinellas Clerk’s Office Fundraiser December 4, 2020 By News Archive Domestic Violence, DVAM, Awareness, CASA, The Haven, Fundraiser, Donation 0 Continuing with a yearly tradition, the Pinellas Clerk’s office led with their hearts and collected a grand total of $5,744.75 through the sale of t-shirts, gift basket raffle tickets and donations during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The monetary donation was divided between CASA and the Haven to further their lifesaving efforts in the county. Canned and nonperishable items were also collected as part of the effort and split between the organizations. A small ceremony was held at the Clerk’s Downtown Clearwater office to present the checks to representatives from each organization. “We wanted to do our part to help those in need and raise awareness in the community of the many resources our office provides domestic violence victims,” said Ken Burke, Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. “COVID-19 has increased the time many people spend at home and if it’s not safe due to domestic violence, our office is here to help along with many community resources and agencies.” The Clerk’s office processes petitions for domestic violence injunctions, commonly called restraining orders, for those seeking help from domestic violence, dating violence, repeat violence, sexual violence, and stalking. Voting Rights: Felony Conviction Amounts Due to the Pinellas Clerk’s Office A recent Federal Court decision affirmed the Florida Statutes requiring an individual with a felony conviction to complete all terms of a felony sentence, including payment of all court fines, fees, and restitution, in order for that individual’s voting rights to be restored. Although the administration of voting eligibility and registration is under the purview of the Supervisor of Elections and the Secretary of State, Clerks play a role in providing individuals with felony convictions with the information needed to satisfy the amounts due under their sentences. Pinellas Clerk Receives Award Winning Recognition for Financial Reporting The Pinellas County Clerk’s office was once again recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) with two national awards in government financial reporting. For the 37th consecutive year, the Clerk’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) received the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The Clerk’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), known as the Citizens’ Guide to County Finances, also received the association's award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the 12th consecutive year. Pinellas Clerk Permanently Closing Tyrone Branch Office On New Year’s Day 2019 Effective Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the Tyrone Branch Traffic Court and Tyrone Branch Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s office located at 1800 66th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL, will be permanently closed due to the Courts Consolidation Project. The Clerk’s Tyrone office closure does not impact other agencies located at the branch, such as the Property Appraiser and Tax Collector, which will remain open. Comments are closed.
