13 March Pinellas Clerk’s Division of Inspector General Receives 3rd Statewide Reaccreditation March 13, 2019 By News Archive Inspector General, Reaccreditation 0 With continued diligence and commitment to maintaining the highest recognition among Florida’s Inspector General community, the Pinellas Clerk’s Division of Inspector General received its third accreditation by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation. “The Division of Inspector General always strives for professionalism and the continuous pursuit of excellence,” stated Ken Burke, Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. “Receiving this recognition is a huge compliment for their efforts year-round.” The reaccreditation process consisted of assessing the agency on 46 standards. In order to earn the reaccreditation, the Pinellas Clerk’s Division of Inspector General had to comply with 41 of these standards, those which are applicable to areas of responsibility and jurisdiction. A team of assessors examined all aspects of the Public Integrity Unity (investigations section), including policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services. The Pinellas Clerk’s Division of Inspector General became the first local government agency in the nation, and first Florida Clerk of the Court and Comptroller’s office, to be awarded the status as an Accredited Office of Inspector General by the Commission on February 3, 2010. Reaccreditation occurs every three years and it is a highly prized honor for Offices of Inspector General professional excellence. For the 37th consecutive year, the Clerk’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) received the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The Clerk’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), known as the Citizens’ Guide to County Finances, also received the association's award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the 12th consecutive year. Time is Running Out to Save Big During the Pinellas Clerk’s Start Smart Campaign An abundance of citizens have already taken advantage of the special event hosted by the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s office. This community event is set to continue until Friday, March 10, 2017 and it has already helped many citizens reset the past and save a lot of money. Voting Rights: Felony Conviction Amounts Due to the Pinellas Clerk’s Office A recent Federal Court decision affirmed the Florida Statutes requiring an individual with a felony conviction to complete all terms of a felony sentence, including payment of all court fines, fees, and restitution, in order for that individual’s voting rights to be restored. Although the administration of voting eligibility and registration is under the purview of the Supervisor of Elections and the Secretary of State, Clerks play a role in providing individuals with felony convictions with the information needed to satisfy the amounts due under their sentences. Domestic Violence Survivors Receive Much Needed Help from Pinellas Clerk’s Office Fundraiser Continuing with a yearly tradition, the Pinellas Clerk’s office led with their hearts and collected a grand total of $5,744.75 through the sale of t-shirts, gift basket raffle tickets and donations during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
